Juanita
Bratcher
is an award-winning journalist,
publisher, author, poet and
songwriter.
A
23-year veteran journalist, she
is Publisher & CEO of
CopyLine Magazine, a political
notebook on politics in Chicago
and Illinois.
Author: "Harold: The Making of a
Big City Mayor," and "I Cry For A
People: In Their Struggle For
Justice & Equality."
Former Investigative Reporter for
the Chicago Defender. In 1983,
she was assigned to the mayoral
campaign trail of then U.S. Rep.
Harold Washington. He was elected
mayor of the city of Chicago in
1983, the first Black to be
elected to the post.
Bratcher was appointed to a
two-year term by Mayor Eugene
Sawyer to the Regional Auxiliary
Council (Atlas Center).
She was a Press Aide to Cook
County Board President John S.
Stroger in his successful run for
president of the Cook County
Board.
Served on the editorial committee
of "One City", a magazine
publication of the Chicago
Council on Urban Affairs.
As a songwriter, Bratcher signed
multiple record contracts with
HillTop Records of Hollywood,
California
The recipient of five "Editor's
Choice" awards for Outstanding
Achievement in Poetry from the
National Library of Poetry
Inducted into the International
Society of Poets as an
"International Poet of Merit" in
1996.
